Features to Reduce Stress in Gmail

Features for Reducing Stress in Gmail

Have you experienced the panic of hitting send on an email prematurely? Terrified about forgetting to respond to specific emails or messages keeping you unproductively anxious? And what about the fear of missing an important email response or losing track of an urgent matter in a sea of spam or less pressing emails from the day?

Fear not, gmail has a solution to set all these worries and anxieties at ease.

Undo Send

For starters, Gmail has a feature that allows you to unsend emails for up to 30 seconds after initially hitting “send”. It is called “Undo Send” and can be set to queue outgoing emails for up to 30 seconds.

Selecting this will undo sending the email, allowing you to relax about accidentally hitting “send” with a typo you noticed at the last second.

Nudges

Now for that pesky memory issue. Gmail has a function that sets reminders for you in order to ensure you respond to certain emails or follow-ups that need to be done. This is called “nudges”. Nudges are on by default and will send you notifications when you have not responded to an email within a certain period of time or when you have not followed up with a reply after a certain period of time. Nudges will also remind you of birthdays of contacts. The nudges will stop once a reply is sent or received for the message the nudge is for.

Stars

Lastly, no need to worry about missing important emails in your sea of less-important emails. With Gmail’s star system, you can star emails with a special importance and then search email specifically for starred emails. Gmail offers multiple star options so that emails of differing topics or importance can be separated.

To enable any of these options, just click on the Gear and head on over to “General” under settings.
